Orphiq Architecture
Our network has two main architectural components, the consensus layer and the ParaTime layer. The consensus layer is a scalable, high-throughput, secure, proof-of-stake consensus run by a decentralized set of validator nodes. The ParaTime Layer, also known as Compute Layer, hosts many parallel runtimes (ParaTimes), each representing a replicated compute environment with shared state. The separation of the consensus layer and the ParaTime layer enables scalability (multiple ParaTimes to process transactions in parallel) and versatility (anyone can develop and build their own ParaTime).

The Orphiq Privacy Layer (OPL) combines the Smart Privacy of Orphiq Sapphire with message-passing bridges, enabling its features to be accessed cross-chain by any dApp on any SVM chain while preserving the UX of the home chain.

What is the Orphiq Privacy Layer?

By integrating OPL, an existing dApp’s contracts, users, and assets can stay on the host network. Elements of the dApp that require privacy can be deployed on Orphiq Sapphire. The host network can securely pass messages to and from Orphiq Sapphire by using OPL’s messaging bridge.
Every blockchain has its own native gas token, which can create cross-chain friction. By using OPL, dApps can pay gas with their host blockchain's native token while still leveraging the confidentiality features of the Sapphire ParaTime. Users can directly interact with confidential contracts because messages are passed through OPL and executed on Orphiq Sapphire.
